Salmon restoration depends on sound research and science. CRITFC has a Fish Science
department that employs geneticists, hydrologists, fish biologists, biometricians,
meteorologists, and other scientists dedicated to studying salmon and their ecosystem.
One major project that CRITFC has done is create Wy·Kan·Ush·Mi Wa·Kish·Wit--the
Spirit of the Salmon restoration plan. This plan is the only basin-wide plan that
promotes "gravel-to-gravel" management. You can read the Spirit of the Salmon plan
here.
Wy·Kan·Ush·Mi Wa·Kish·Wit calls for considerable watershed restoration and salmon
supplementation projects. One way that the tribes are accomplishing these projects
is through the use of the Pacific Coastal Salmon Recovery Fund. You can read more
about individual projects that each of CRITFC's member tribes are working on
here .
The scientists at CRITFC are constantly working on new research to further our understanding
of salmon and their habitat. All the CRITFC technical reports and published scientific
papers are available here
